It wasn't until I came into adulthood when I started to appreciate the taste of chocolate. However, there's a difference between the common chocolate (candy) and raw cacao or cocoa. Raw cacao is basically the first step to making chocolate. Cacao is very bitter and taste nothing like Hershey's chocolate. Why is cacao so bitter? Well, in not sure but I do know cacao has many beneficial nutrients. Before I tell you those benefits let me explain the difference between cacao and cocoa. Cacao is cold-pressed unroasted cacao beans. Cocoa is raw cacao that's been roasted at a high temperature. To understand this more clearly, think about cacao the same way you think about coffee. Light roasted coffee isn't as nearly as strong in taste as dark roasted coffee. Which one is better? Well, if you're trying to get the optimal amount of nutrients and minerals it's always a good idea to start from the raw source. Using the coffee example again, many people think dark roasted coffee has more caffeine but this isn't true. Anything roasted or cooked for a longer period of time is going to have less nutrients (or caffeine) than the raw source. You don't have to incorporate cacao into your diet but if you do, it can provide your body with a good source of antioxidants, heart health, fiber, and it can boost your mood. Because cacao is a stimulant, there is a such thing as too much of this can possibly hurt you. Therefore, be smart about how much cacao you consume. Also, try to consume cacao with other nutrient rich things like nuts or seeds.
Not sure how old this video is, but I know this clip is older than a year. Not only is it important to eat wisely but it's also important to have an active lifestyle. Although I don't post about my active lifestyle I definitely have one. I've been consistently active for about 4 years. This clip is when I did a variation of #sissysquats for the first time and was freakishly good at them. The strength exercises I do well usually involve hip flexors and hamstrings. I definitely have weaknesses like box squats 😒. The point is you will never be great at everything but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Anywho, make sure you eat some leafy greens today or tomorrow if it's too late where ever you are.
I've been eating so much asparagus lately, especially after my doctor told me it was good for breast health. My favorite and most simple way to eat asparagus is by sauctéing it with a few spices, liquid amino acids, and balsamic vinegar. Because asparagus is a vegetable, I'm sure you can guess its packed with essential vitamins and minerals. A serving of just 1/2 cup of asparagus provides a good serving of vitamins A, C, E, K. This vegetable also provides a good source of potassium, folate, zinc, and fiber. These vitamins and minerals reduce blood pressure, supports a healthy pregnancy, and aids in a healthy digestive system.
Did you have your breakfast today? A new favorite of mine is 3 ingredient pancakes. I'm not sure of my measurements but I used oat flour, half a mashed banana, and almond milk. Feel free to add other spices like nutmeg and cinnamon.
A plant-based diet can be difficult, especially, when dining out. I posted five tips on my blog about how to eat out on a plant-based diet. Maybe you'll find the tips useful. Link in bio!
Don't ask me what this dish is called lol. I just know that it was tasty creation of mine. The base is garbanzo bean flour. Garbanzo bean flour is one of the most versatile flours out there. You can create so many different meals with this flour by only adding water, which is amazing if you don't want to cook anything complex.
